Our Covid-19 Safety Precautions Response

At Villa Sorrento Assisted Living, we take every measure to ensure that we protect our residents, workers, visitors, and surrounding communities to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Focused on Health and Safety

Every day, our comprehensive planning and preparation addresses and provides the following targeted safety precautions:

Vaccines

Residents and staff members of Assisted Living communities will be among the first groups to receive the approved Covid-19 vaccines.  When dates are determined, a vaccination clinic will be set up in our community to administer the two-part round of Covid-19 vaccine regimen.  The clinic will deliver the initial vaccination, and the second vaccination will be delivered a month later.

Because the vaccine is designed to prepare your immune system to fight the virus should you become exposed, we encourage that all residents and staff members participate in this important inoculation program at the very first opportunity.  The Covid-19 vaccine cannot and does not contain the live virus itself, and has been deemed safe and effective by the FDA.

Testing

Residents and staff members are tested on-site regularly every week for Covid-19.

Monitoring

We monitor our residents' temperature and oxygen saturation twice daily.

Sanitizing

We thoroughly sanitize all common areas several times daily.

We encourage and require frequent and regular hand washing.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All staff members are equipped with properly fitted masks, wear disposable gloves, and are outfitted with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Self-Isolation

For our continued safety, we respectfully request that all residents continue to self-isolate in their individual apartment homes.

Group Activities

For the time being, group activities have been regretfully discontinued until the risk of Covid-19 transmission has been significantly reduced.  Please be assured and confident that we will resume group activities when it is safe to do so.

Dining

For the safety and protection of our residents, the Dining Room has been temporarily closed at this time. The dining room will remain closed at this time and all meals will be delivered to residents in their apartments.

Hydration Stops

Our staff members will continue to make regular apartment stops to check-in and monitor all residents in our community.  We will also make regular hydration stops throughout the day.

Visitors

We require a screening check-in for all visitors at the Front Desk.  A requisite temperature scan will be taken and we also require a mandatory visitor questionnaire be completed prior to further entry.

When visitors are allowed, we ask that our resident families follow all community protocols as required by the CDC during their visit, and that they wear full and complete PPE and maintain appropriate social distancing of at least six feet at all times.

We have also reserved an outside area at the back of our building where family members (and guests?) can safely visit with residents.

At this time, we are currently limiting visitors to necessary medical visits.

Changing Circumstances

Our current environment remains subject to rapidly changing circumstances.  Our community’s specific responses may vary, or evolve, depending upon prevailing local, area or state level restrictions.  Other factors, regulations, and/or considerations may also affect our responses and procedures.
